Moving notes

Changing notes position in time or pitch

Last updated 1 year ago

In this section you will learn how to move notes around vertically (change the pitch) and horizontally (change the start and end beats of the note). Moving does not change the length of the note.

Dragging notes

To change both start beat and pitch at once you can just drag the note in the main editor to the desired place.

If you want to drag the first or the last note of the active line consider switching to the free display mode

In the visible range of beats automatically adjusts to the notes. It happens also in the middle of dragging. It might be hard to correctly position the note in such situation. In such case to avoid annoyance just temporarily switch to free display mode (e.g. by pressing ctrl + scrolling mouse wheel once - see more in the article).

Changing the start & end beats

To change start & end beat you just move the note horizontally. You can do it either via Menu -> Move or using shift + → (to move right) and shift + ← (to move left) shortcuts.

You can of course drag the note as well.

Changing the pitch

Changing the pitch means changing the notes vertical position on the grid - moving it up or down. It can be done in several ways:

Menu

Go to Edit -> Move -> Up or Edit -> Move -> Down.

Shortcut

ctrl + ↑ or ctrl + ↓

Write tones

You can of course drag the note as well.

To set tones for multiple notes one by one you can use mode.
